Jayapadma works on gender issues and social development by engaging with grassroots leaders and organisations, and collaborating in their efforts towards a just and equitable society. She has keen interest in developing ecosystems for resource justice and supporting communities to find ways to adapt and build resilience. Over the past three decades, she has worked with  community-based organisations, bilateral aid, corporate social responsibility entities, as well as research and academic institutions. She is a core team member of Disom - The Leadership School, and also serves on the board of Timbaktu Collective, Voice4, Jal Seva Charitable Foundation and Gram Vikas Health and Education Trust.
