Dr. Sara Ahmed is an Adjunct Professor at the Centre for Water Research, IISER-Pune, with nearly 30 years of experience in applied research on water, livelihoods, and social equity. She has taught at IRMA, Anand, managed regional research portfolios on water, food security, and climate change for IDRC in Asia, and advised a wide range of development organisations and global water networks. She holds a PhD in Environmental Sociology from the University of Cambridge and currently serves on the boards of WaterAid India, Wetlands International South Asia, the Development Support Centre Foundation, and Samerth. A widely published expert on gender and water governance, her co-edited book Diverting the Flow remains a key reference in the field. She is also the founder of the Living Waters Museum and a contributor to the Global Network of Water Museums, a UNESCO-IHP initiative promoting SDG 6.
